GLB and glTF viewer

Drop a GLB file (or a self-contained .gltf) below to view it with its materials. The file stays in your browser. On a phone, the Extrude app opens GLB and glTF and can place the model in AR at real size.

What is a GLB or glTF file?

glTF is the standard format for 3D on the web and in AR. GLB is the same thing packed into one binary file, with textures inside.

A .gltf file often points to separate .bin and image files. Those need to be together to open; a GLB never has that problem.

How to use this viewer

  1. Drop the file on the dark area, or press Choose file.
  2. Drag to rotate, scroll or pinch to zoom, right-drag or two-finger drag to pan.
  3. Read the size, volume and triangle count under the view. Use Wireframe to see the mesh.

Opening GLB files on a phone

The app opens GLB and glTF on iPhone and Android, and shows them in augmented reality at their real size.

Questions

What is the difference between GLB and glTF?

They are the same format. GLB is one binary file with everything inside; glTF is JSON that can reference separate files.

Why does my .gltf fail to open?

It probably references a .bin or texture file that was not included. Use the GLB version of the model if there is one.

Is the file uploaded?

No. It stays in your browser.
