OBJ viewer

Drop an OBJ file below to view it in 3D with its size and polygon count. The file is read by your browser and never uploaded. Materials and textures live in separate .mtl and image files, so this viewer shows the geometry. The Extrude app opens OBJ files on iPhone and Android, offline.

What is an OBJ file?

OBJ is a plain-text 3D format from Wavefront, used by Blender, Maya, ZBrush and most scanning apps. It stores vertices, faces and texture coordinates.

Colours and textures are kept outside the OBJ, in an .mtl file and image files next to it. Many download sites bundle all of them in a ZIP.

How to use this viewer

  1. Drop the file on the dark area, or press Choose file.
  2. Drag to rotate, scroll or pinch to zoom, right-drag or two-finger drag to pan.
  3. Read the size, volume and triangle count under the view. Use Wireframe to see the mesh.

Yes. The Extrude app exports any model it opens as a binary STL in millimetres, ready for a slicer.

Why is my OBJ grey?

Colour and texture are stored in a separate .mtl file and images. The viewer shows the shape only.

Is the file uploaded?

No. It stays in your browser.
